Simple Present with Two Verbs

Sometimes we use the verb + infinitive. Sometimes we use the verb + present participle.

train	yes	no	He trains to become an accountant.
travel	yes	no	They travel to experience new things.
try	yes	no	We try to do our best.
turn	yes -- most common with past tense	no	She turned to meet him.
vote	yes	no	We vote to elect a new president.
wait	yes	no	Let's wait to see if she calls or texts.
walk	yes	no	I walk to get exercise.
want	yes	no	I want to explain my point of view.
warn	yes with indirect object	no	He warns his child to stay away from strangers.
wish	yes	no	I wish to give you my condolences.
work	yes	no	She works to achieve her dreams.
write	yes	yes	He writes to say he cannot come. He writes saying he cannot come.
