Speaking Questions

1. Do you routinely get a physical exam? Why or why not?

2. Do you routinely try to improve yourself in some way? If so, what do you do?

3. What is an event that you attend sometimes? It could be a business conference, a theatrical performance, etc. What is the appropriate style of dress for this event?

4. When people are taking a university class in your country, what behaviors are considered inappropriate?  If you can, describe one person who behaved inappropriately.

5. Do you come from a diverse society? If not, explain why your society is not diverse. If so, describe several different groups of people.

6. Describe a time when you often need to clarify your thoughts for other people. It could be when you speak English, when you propose a new idea at a business meeting, or anything like that.

7. In America, many businesses try to be convenient. For instance, many stores have late hours or are open all night. Do businesses in your country also focus on convenience? Explain how they do or do not.

8. People have different ideas on prosperity. Some people will feel prosperous with a huge income while others will feel prosperous with a moderate income and a large family. What would make you feel prosperous and why?

9. Theoretically speaking, what is one new technology that will change the world? Why do you think so?

10. Is there a season in your country when you have scarcely any doubt of what the weather will be like?

11. Describe two people: one who is good at offering a critical opinion (constructive criticism) and one who is not (the criticism tends to frustrating rather than inspiring).

12. What is a topic in which you value constructive criticism the most? Explain.
