500 Common
Words Extra: W
Use this practice paragraph to put the W words into use.
In school, children learn the
question words, the five W's and H. The five W's are who, what, where,
when and why. Students write questions about pictures. Who is watching
the water? When are the flowers watered every week? Why are some people
waiting at the crosswalk while others are walking now? Why are all the
women wearing warm clothes? Other important question words are "will"
and "which." Students can write questions with these words. Will people
always wonder about the powers in the world? Which wood was used on
this wing of the house? One final important W word is "would." This
word is often used in well-meaning expressions. Would you wait in the
waiting room, please?
