About Our Main Instructor
Hello.
I am Erica Rösi Pedersen. I provide most of the curriculum and teaching
at Speakmethod.com. After achieving my B.A. in English and Masters in
Creative Writing, I began work with a refugee resettlement office in
Seattle and gained a passion for English language teaching. I taught
classes and also managed the refugee English program for 10 years.
During that time, I gained TESOL
certification (TESOL means Teachers of English to Speakers of
Other Languages). Since then, I have taught private lessons in English
pronunciation and grammar both in-person (for locals) and online with
skype. I also teach evening English classes at the University of
Washington.
My private students have included software professionals, researchers, medical students, childcare providers, teachers, taxi drivers and people from many other professions. During English classes,
I have helped students develop
pronunciation of the R sound, develop the TH sound, learn the different
American T sounds,
perfect pronunciation of vowel sounds,
develop word stress and more. For grammar, I use practice
conversations to help students apply grammar rules to their everyday
vocabulary. Verb tenses, prepositions and articles (a, an, the) are
common areas of study. I am grateful to have worked with people from
around the world: East Africa, Senegal, India,
Japan, China,
Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia, Brazil,
Venezuela,
Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Israel, the U.K., France, Germany, Bosnia,
Russia, and the Ukraine.
I enjoy doing test-prep as well. I have assisted many students who were
preparing for the TOEFL or USMLE exam.
