The Walrus 1. This is a walrus that lives at the San Diego Zoo. He is gigantic! In the picture, he does not look as big as he is in real life. Walruses can be 6 to 12 feet long and weigh between 1,600 pounds and 2 tons. 2. Walruses live in the Arctic Ocean. Both male and female walruses have tusks. They use their tusks to pull themselves out of the water and onto big pieces of ice. 3. It is astounding to see his huge body moving easily in the water. The pool is spacious, and he swims from side to side. The water has a pretty blue hue. There is a cove with rocks above the water where he can relax in the sunshine. Many people come to see him every day. It is worthwhile to see a real walrus!
