France has banned Islamic face veils worn in public places. Almost two years ago, France's president set the wheels in motion by saying that the veils go against this secular nation's values of dignity and equality. Though a very small minority of France's five million Muslims wear the veil, many Muslims believe that this ban is a stigma against their religion. About a dozen people protested the ban.
